You were back at work the next day. Your lunch break spent in Olivia's office. You rested your hands on your stomach, in awe that there was really a baby in there.
Olivia sat at her desk, admiring you. A soft smile was present on her face as you touched your stomach. Olivia herself was still in shock that you were pregnant.
She gently turned your head back up to meet hers, giving you a sweet kiss before pulling away and looking at you. "Are you sure you're okay?" She asked softly, still holding your waist.
Her gaze fell onto you.
"Mhm, better get back out there.." You nodded, beginning to detach yourself from her arms.
"I'll see you later, sweetheart. Let me know if you need anything." Olivia added.
You closed the door behind you as you watched Rollins return from her break.
"Hi Y/N" She smiled, sitting at her desk.
"Hey Manda, what's new?" You spoke, brushing a strand of hair out of your face.
"There's been a break in the case" Munch interrupted.
As Munch briefed the team, Olivia focused on the work in front of her. She was only half paying attention to what was going on. She was still thinking about earlier, thinking about you being pregnant with her child. The thought alone filled her with warmth. She knew this would be something she'd be thinking about for the rest of the day.
The case required the team to go into the field. Olivia grabbed her coat and bag to follow everyone else into action. The case wasn't too bad, thankfully. She walked with the team, making sure to keep an eye on you throughout. She couldn't help but be a bit protective, especially knowing that you were now carrying a baby, her baby.
There was a dead body that had been dead for a few days so it had a rancid smell. You tried to resist gagging and keep your composure. This action didn't go unnoticed by Liv.
She saw your expression as you saw the body and inched closer to you. Olivia placed her hand on your back, rubbing it gently. "You okay, dear?" She asked. She didn't want you to be too stressed, especially now. She was a bit concerned for your health.
"Y-Yeah.. it's just the s-smell" You admitted, whispering in her ear. You didn't want the rest of the team to know the news just yet. Didn't wanna jinx it.
Olivia nodded and kept a hand on your back, gently rubbing circles with her thumb, trying to comfort you. "Oh. My love.. It's going to be alright. Just breathe for me, okay?" She knew the next few months wouldn't be easy for you but it will be so worth it.
"You alright, Y/N? It's not your first dead body, is it?" Munch remarked, his eyes judging you.
Olivia looked up, her eyes glared at the other detective. This wasn't the time or place for jokes. She moved her hand from your back, instead putting it on your stomach, rubbing it softly. "It's alright," she reassured you, ignoring the other detective's comment.
"You know she's one of the younger agents leave her alone" Rollins spoke, referring to your age. Rollins was very motherly to you, and protective of you so she came to your rescue.
"Thank you, Amanda" Olivia turned to Rollins, giving her a nod. She hated when her teammates made comments that were just insensitive. She knew they didn't mean to be rude, but now was certainly not the time. The captain kept her hand on your stomach, rubbing it gently.
"In public?" You mouthed, refering to Liv's hand caressing your stomach. You didn't want your team to find out and this was a dead giveaway.
Olivia knew what you meant. She couldn't help but feel a bit protective and wanted everyone to know, but she also wasn't quite ready for anyone to know yet. She knew it would only be a matter of time before someone put the pieces together. "You're doing so well, don't worry about the others." She whispered, trying to reassure you.
༘˚⋆𐙚。⋆𖦹.✧˚
The team had returned back to the office, wrapping up the case. You were in Olivia's office, relaxing. The team knew of your relationship with the captain but they didn't know that you two were trying to have a child.
Olivia's hovered behind you, her hands working the knots in your shoulder. "You're so tense, my love.." Olivia spoke softly.
You closed your eyes, lending your hand back slightly. A quiet groan escaped from your lips.
"That's it baby, let it all out" Olivia encouraged. Her lips ghosted your neck.
"You're such a good girl, my best girl" She praised.
You stood up, backing Liv against the wall. Your gaze darkened, you bit your lip as your hand found it's way around her neck.
"Shh.. Gotta keep quiet Captain.." You smirked, you sucked on the skin on her neck, taking it between your teeth.
"Mine" You whimpered against her.
Olivia couldn't lie, she was turned on by your possessiveness, and slightly curious of where it came from. She wasn't complaining though.
"B-baby.. we're a-at work" She reminded you, trying to keep her composure and not submit to you. She didn't want to give up her power but God you felt so good against her.
"Mmm.. don't you want this Liv.." Yiu mumbled against her, your other hand snaked down to her stomach, resting just below her pants.
"We're still at work, we'll have time for this later." Olivia added gently, pulling your face away from her neck.
"Benson! Y/L/N!" A voice exclaimed from the briefing room.
Olivia jumped, pulling away from you. She straightened her shirt and ran a hand through her hair to mess it around a bit so there wasn't as much evidence of what had just happened.

I voted for Harris but I can see how women have been disgruntled with the Democrats oppressing the gender ideology crowd by using language that erasing woman and mother but now they want more votes to reclaim the senate and house in two years they know which voters are women.
Lisa Neisler, Amanda Prettyman and Cile Lind became more engaged in politics after the 2020 election, which they believed was stolen. The T-shirt worn by Prettyman, centre, is a reference to this election denial
FERNANDO DECILLIS FOR THE TIMES
Fiona Hamilton, Chief Reporter Friday November 08 2024
Lisa Neisler rolls her eyes and scoffs. She is thinking about a campaign advert featuring the actress Julia Roberts, in which women were encouraged to vote Democratic in the secrecy of the voting booth. In the ad, conservative white women are portrayed as wanting to do “the right thing” and vote for Kamala Harris but are too afraid to tell their intimidating husbands who support Donald Trump.
“I was appalled by that commercial,” Neisler, 53, a nurse, says. “I love my husband, I respect my husband. But he doesn’t tell me what to do or who to vote for. I didn’t lose my intellect when I married him.”
It was Neisler and millions of others who spurned the Democrats on Tuesday, torpedoing Kamala Harris’s chances of becoming the first female black president. Harris needed the white female vote but instead they backed
Tumblr media
Roberts at a women’s reproductive rights rally for Harris in Republican-leaning Canton, Georgia
THE MEGA AGENCY
The Democrats had placed gender at the heart of their campaign, warning conservative women that abortion restrictions and Trump’s sexual misconduct history meant their freedoms and future were at stake if they did not switch allegiance.
But there were two fundamental flaws. White women were more concerned about matters that directly impacted their families and livelihoods — the cost of living crisis, illegal immigration, and, for some, other issues about American values. And perhaps just as significantly, the modern Republican woman does not feel downtrodden or exploited. She believes that conservative values empower her. She does not like being condescended to.
Uneducated white women’
Anna Rollins, an academic at Marshall University, West Virginia, with an upcoming book on gender issues, voted Democratic but says a lot of women were insulted by the messaging. “That Julia Roberts pitch to Republican women — ‘we know you’re scared, we know that you’re with us deep down inside, you can muster up courage to do what you really want to do’. It’s so condescending and it majorly missed the mark.
“Some Republican women are professionals, some care full time for their children. Those who have traditional housewife roles — they don’t view themselves as having been put in that box, they have chosen it.”
Tumblr media
Just like in 2016 and 2020, a majority of white women (52 per cent) voted for Trump. Given the spectre of a rollback on their reproductive rights, it caused anger and disbelief among Democratic commentators, one blaming “uneducated white women”. Brittany Bennett, 34, a mother of three who runs her own law firm in Warner Robins, a two-hour drive from Georgia’s capital of Atlanta, raises her eyebrows at the description.
Tumblr media
Brittany Bennett, 34: “I want our kids to be safe”
FERNANDO DECILLIS FOR THE TIMES
“I think it’s divisive. I can only tell you my personal experience. I have a law degree, I’m a practising attorney. I don’t fit into that stereotype. And the bulk of people I align with, they fall into that same category. I voted Trump as I want our kids to be safe and have economic opportunities moving forward.”
As a business owner Bennett is fed up with being hammered by taxes. Her daughter does cheerleading and she wants her protected from “men playing women’s sports”. She believes in Trump’s plan to build a wall and cut down on illegal immigration, and shrugs off accusations of sexual misconduct against him as being “purely political”.
Many Democrats would be horrified by these views. Bennett is simply bemused by any suggestion she lacked her own agency in coming to them.
All-American girls
The stereotype of the all-American homemaker is literally baked into the fabric of politics here — in 1992, when Hillary Clinton said she had ambitions beyond the traditional first lady role, the backlash was so severe she agreed to a cookie bake-off with her Republican counterpart, Barbara Bush, to quell the storm.
Tumblr media
Hillary Clinton softened her image with President Clinton by baking cookies at the White House in 1993
J SCOTT APPLEWHITE/AP
These days, Republican women who stay at home with their children say they do it out of choice, not expectation. And they feel those choices lead to them being depicted as meek or submissive, which grates.
And so, as Neisler sips drinks with two Republican friends at a café in Bibb county, a suburban area outside Atlanta, talk turns to that political advert. “I was disappointed Julia Roberts did that, but I wasn’t surprised,” Neisler, a mother of three, said. “They portray men as being this domineering force over women. It’s ridiculous. I can cast my vote without my husband’s approval. Often he’d probably ask my opinion on something first.” Cile Lind, 58, a medical administrator, chimes in: “Like how he should vote!”
Neisler and Lind are chatting with Amanda Prettyman, 40. The three of them became more engaged in local politics after what they perceive as injustice at the 2020 poll, firmly believing there was electoral fraud against their party (despite independent investigations to the contrary).
Prettyman wears a T-shirt reading “IYKYK dvscorp08”, referring to an alleged leaked password to voting systems spread online by election deniers. Lind speaks in hushed tones about voting machines and their “mystic magical QR codes”. They do not question the integrity of the latest poll in which Trump romped home.
Tumblr media
The initials on Prettyman’s T-shirt stand for “if you know, you know”
FERNANDO DECILLIS COMISSIONED BY THE TIMES
But largely it is everyday issues that drove them to vote Trump. They want their kids to experience the American dream of owning their home, but it is getting more distant. Inflation is a constant concern. “A dozen eggs used to be 99 cents. Now they’re, what? $2.38 with a coupon? They can get up to $10,” Lind says.
Tumblr media
Trump’s message about the dangers caused by criminal immigrant “monsters” has really resonated. “We had odometer fraud committed against us by an illegal immigrant,” Prettyman says. “My uncle’s home was invaded by an illegal immigrant. It was completely crazy. They try to frame Republicans as, oh, we hate immigrants. We don’t. It’s just they need to come the right way. And I have lots of legal immigrant friends who would say the same.”
Tumblr media
They are also desperately concerned about international conflict, fearing escalation in Ukraine and the Middle East will lead to their sons being drafted. Trump is seen as a strong man who will bring solutions.
The group becomes particularly enthused over plans by Robert Kennedy Jr, an antivax activist, to remove toxic ingredients from food and the notion he will make America’s children healthy again. They dismiss allegations about Trump’s behaviour to women as “locker room talk” and “being a straight shooter”. All are pro life, but as a consideration in voting, this issue lags behind many others.
Motivated by partisanship
For years the Republican Party has been assumed to be burning its bridges with women over the abortion issue. But in focus groups all over America, women questioned about their voting intentions raised the economy and illegal migration. Abortion ranked much lower.
Scarlett Maguire, a director at pollster JL Partners, said she was astonished it was almost the only issue the Democrats campaigned properly on. “It’s not the most important issue to the vast majority of women. It’s not a universal issue, there’s a huge number of women you put off, especially with the swing Republicans Harris was targeting.”
Analysts say that many women vote for Trump even though they found his behaviour objectionable and despite concerns about reproductive rights, because he has answered their more pressing concerns when the Democrats did not.
Tumblr media
The Democrats placed abortion rights at the centre of their campaign but Republican women were more concerned about other issues
MIGUEL J RODRIGUEZ CARRILLO/GETTY IMAGES
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia congresswoman, may be the poster girl for the Maga (Make America Great Again) movement. But there are many much more moderate women who have voted for Trump. Kelly France, 33, a mother of two, is pro-choice “to a point”, and previously voted for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. She now works two jobs to pay rent and power bills, which have doubled. She voted for Trump: “I looked back at the last four years and considered whether my life has been better or worse. It was worse.”
Dr Heather Ondercin, an associate professor at Appalachian State University and an expert in gender studies, said that when it came to traditional Republican female voters, partisanship would always trump an issue such as abortion.
“Within the Republican Party there are quite a few women who disagree with the party on the most extreme stances as abortion,” she said. “But in their voting behaviour they are more motivated by partisanship and that’s why they will go for Trump.” The fact that Harris herself does not have biological children gave Republican women another reason to dislike her “because she does violate their norms and expectations of women”.
Transgender ‘insanity’
In contrast, Republican women see Trump as protecting their freedoms, not as a threat. At one of his final rallies in Macon, a city in central Georgia, Trump hammered home his message to “get transgender insanity the hell out of our schools … And we will keep men out of women’s sports. That’s like a no-brainer”.
That message hit home with many like Emily Harris, 41, a Republican campaigner from Atlanta: “I have three girls who are all in sports. I don’t want my kids to be having to play against a boy or a man, it does not go well at all.”
Tumblr media
Emily Harris, left, agreed with Trump’s message regarding “transgender insanity”
Harris added: “Even in the locker rooms, changing in front of a male. No thank you. That’s the women’s rights I stand behind. If somebody wants to be trans, if they’re over 18, whatever. You do you. But when you start putting that stuff on kids and teaching them to be that way, it’s not OK. I’m a very strong Christian and I believe that God does not make mistakes.”
Bennett echoes similar concerns. “President Trump has maintained he will protect women from having men in women’s sports. I believe in traditional values, women are special and should be protected.”

chapter 2: no es posible, no es verdad (mi cabeza va estallar)
chapter 2 under the cut!
“Rollins, problem?”
“No, sergeant.”
Nick rolled his eyes. But he kept walking.
“He is a veteran with PTSD. That was a coerced confession!”
“Bullshit!” Rollins exclaimed. “Like the military is a bunch of saints.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“Well, we’re not at war anymore.”
“You are not,” Nick said. “But Patterson? The moment those flares went off, he had a flashback to combat. He thought she was a wounded soldier. You may not be at war. But he still is.”
“We can’t release him, regardless.”
Nick was so annoyed.
But he was fine at least to keep him nearby. Less harassment, if anything.
He was still arguing with Rollins in the lot.
“It is textbook PTSD. You should have seen him. It was coming over him like a wave.”
“Alright. Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah.”
“Did you tell him you were in Iraq?”
“It came up.”
“Was that before or after his PTSD manifested?”
Oh, low. Low. Low.
“Come on, Rollins.”
“All I’m saying, is it possible that he’s playing you?”
He could practically see the air quotes around the word manifested.
“I know what you’re saying, and no. Why don’t you drive?”
He tossed his keys to Amanda.
She barely caught them.
“So you're gonna spend the rest of the trip mad?”
“I ain’t mad,” Nick said with a shrug.
“It sounds like you’re mad.”
“But I’m not.”
Rollins may forget; she’s from the South but he was Cuban and Italian and from the Bronx. He was born with mad attitude.
Nick was tired and had been fighting off the headache. The complications of this case were layers and layers. The yard lengths of string to connect all of this situation would have made a complicated spiderweb.
He has a migraine. But for now, he was quiet and watched the three of them talk it out. Watch what was going on in silence, deep in his own thoughts. Rollins being so doubtful of Frank was rubbing him the wrong way, especially when she persisted on that she was right. The ride back, he spent it listening to music and just an eye on the road. He didn't drive.
Too pissed off for it.
His head was split in half too.
Barba was as quiet as he was, watching everything play out in front of him. He had to give the counselor that, at least; he was incredibly observant. Very.  He noticed patterns that sometimes Nick did not catch on right away. Maybe in another timeline where he chose to not be an asshole, Barba would have made a great detective.
Ever since the Delia case, Nick was extremely careful in everything he did. At least he and Liv were okay; that was his best friend. She still missed her old partner; Nick had a feeling there was something more there, but he wasn't going to bring it up. Sometimes he caught her playing with the ring on her left index finger. It must have meant something.
“This may be hard to follow, Counselor.”
“No, I get it,” Barba said simply. “It’s Benghazi.”
Nick blinked.
Hell of a reference there, Counselor.
“You thought that Gabby was assaulted by a mob, when it turns out that the attack was orchestrated. The problem is---”
“How to prove it.”
Nick heard a slight crunch.
Wait. Was that a banana chip?
Was Assistant District Attorney Rafael Barba eating banana chips?
“These three. The Cotillion crew. They didn’t touch Gabby?”
“No, but they set the whole thing in motion. They took her to the club. And this one,” Olivia stated before she pointed to Brit’s picture. “She picked out the tube top that Gabby wore!”
Barba let out a sardonic smile. “Even a New York grand jury won’t indict on that,” he said. “Unless…” He walked over to the board. “One. Two. Three. Multiple people. Coordinated attack. We’re looking at a conspiracy. Nick, what about the guard you spoke to?”
Nick was startled, but he recovered and got his bearings. “Well, the attack and pyrotechnics triggered his flashback. His memory is…fragmented.”
Nick could say that at least. It was the truth. Noncondescending.
“You got him to remember Louis.”
Wait, what? Barba noticed that?
“...Yeah.” Nick was tentative.
“Go back. Take him through the night. Don’t lead him…but see what else he can reconstruct.”
Finally, someone that considered Frank in this situation other than him. The fact that it was Barba surprised him more.
“You got it,” Nick said.
He felt a little too justified that at least someone took him seriously. Frank was suffering. He needed help.
Nick paused the thought.
Wait, why did it have to be Barba?
The trial was said and done. It was late in the evening. Barba was back in his office.
At least Nick hoped. Or else he would look like a fool with both coffees balanced in one hand. He knew which one was Barba's with the marked off sharpie for extra sugar. He had noticed him put extra packets in the mug the other day in the squad room.
But the light was on in his office, so he must have gotten lucky.
Nick knocked with his foot on the door frame.
“Is this a bad time?”
“No, not at all. Come in.”
Bar
“Um. I was in the area. And I brought you some coffee.”
“El vicio.” (The vice.) Barba accepted it with a smile. “Gracias.”
"I just wanted to thank you for taking Frank seriously."
“Other than the curve ball he threw our way mistrial, it was a breeze. I'm glad he agreed to counseling.”
“Yeah. Rollins had her…reservations about him. But she apologized, at least.”
“Reservations how?”
“His legitimacy. She thought he was faking it and that it blinded my judgement. But I served for a long time. Things are different when you’re overseas. The things you see and experience…different. I remember I couldn't sleep when I came back home. It was the noise. Well, lack thereof,” Nick said.
Barba was quiet.
Was he listening?
“Uh...Context; the desert is quiet as hell. Nothin’ but sand, dust, tumbleweeds and boredom. Those were the good moments. The rare ones. So…it’s quiet. New York isn't. But sometimes, in the dead of night…it gets quiet. I don’t know,” Nick quickly shut down. “It’s…yeah.”
He drank from his coffee. This was so nerve wracking. And for what? And for WHAT?
“I get it. I didn’t serve, but I have friends who did.”
“You do?”
“Have friends? Yes,” Barba said. With a smile. “Much to the world’s surprise.”
But Nick laughed.
“I have friends from long ago that served and it was not the same when they came home. To say it is faked…prejudiced statement.”
“Yeah, exactly. But people judge what they don’t understand. But you understood. I’m just glad you did.” That was sentimental. Oddly sentimental.
He cleared his throat. “But yeah, we uh. We got a win. Some form of justice. Thank you,” Nick said.
“No need to. But…you’re welcome,” Barba said softly.
“Goodnight, Counselor.”
“Good night, Detective.”
Nick gracefully exited the office.
…And he all but skedaddled out to the parking lot.
Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.
Meanwhile, Barba looked at the coffee.
He took a sip and there was sugar in it. The right amount. Nick somehow guessed it.
God. He was fucked.

That Time Carisi (Almost) Punched a Transphobic Asshat in the Face
A short drabble dedicated to @lesbianavabekker
The station was bustling, as usual. Rollins scrolled through a search engine on her computer, looking for anything to connect their current suspect to a grisly string of murders. She typed another keyword into the search bar. Still nothing.
Suddenly, there was a bustling in the doorway. Rollins looked up to see Fin strolling behind a man in his late 50s, wearing an orange polo shirt and grey slacks.
“Terrible outfit,” Rollins thought. “What case is this guy from?”
She got up and followed the parade of cops to the interrogation room, where the man sat, steaming, at one side of the sleek metal table in the center of the room. Rollins stood outside, watching closely through the one-way glass as the man forcefully rubbed his thumbs over his hands over and over again. He seemed nervous but mostly just agitated. Hearing the door open, Rollins turned to see Carisi walk in.
“Hey, what’s the deal with this guy?” She asked him.
“Fin found him. Says he might be a possible lead on the Reichard case. Did you not get the comm?”
Rollins’ hand patted her hip. Where the hell is my radio? She brushed it off. “Must’ve missed that. You going in? Need any backup?”
“Nah, I think I’m good on my own for this one. I’ll let you know if I need ya.”
Rollins nodded, stepping back as Carisi opened the door and headed for the chair opposite the man. Rollins walked closer to the glass, watching the man intently for any signs of guilt.
“Mr. Lesko, my name is Detective Carisi. Do you know why you’re here?”
“Yeah, your dumbass friend thinks I have something to do with that kid going missing.”
“Right…” Carisi nodded, slightly drawing out the word to make himself seem nonchalant. “Did you know him? Hear he was seen hangin’ round your shop a lot.”
“Yeah, I guess.” The man shrugged. “Kids that age are in my store all the time, drunk or high with their friends and looking for cheap snacks. I only saw that one come in alone, though.”
The man looked Carisi directly in the eye. “She didn’t seem to have many friends. Honestly, I’m not surprised she’s missin’ now. A dyke like her probably got herself into some trouble.”
Rollins grimaced. This guy was old, but he didn’t seem that old. Who still talks like that? She took notice of the stiffening in Carisi’s posture as the guy continued to berate this transgender kid.
“Don’t get me wrong. I’ve got no problem with their… lifestyle, but she comes around flaunting that behavior, it’s disgusting. No one wants to see that. A girl like her outta learn to present herself if she wants to make it anywhere.”
Carisi stared at the table, breathing slowly. His hands clenched tightly under the table, outside of the suspect's view. Rollins, however, had a better vantage point. She could see how upset this was making him.
Composing himself, Carisi took another deep breath and looked into the man’s eyes. He opened the folder in front of him, taking out a photo of a teenage boy and slamming it onto the table. “Did you see Tyler Reichard on March 11, yes or no?” he demanded, a little too loudly.
The man smirked, seeing that he’d gotten under Carisi’s skin. “Nope. Don’t think I did.”
Carisi grabbed the table with both hands, pushing himself out of his chair. Without saying a word, he got up and walked out, leaving Lesko alone in the interrogation room. Rollins looked over to Fin, standing in the corner.
“This guy knows something. Keep him talking, I’ll get Carisi.”
Fin nodded, heading over to the door. Rollins walked quickly to the squad room to find Carisi at his desk with his head in his hands. She hadn’t seen him this rattled in awhile. She sat down in her own chair, not speaking for a few seconds.
“Hey, you good? What happened in there?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I just…” Carisi looked to the side, staring at nothing while he gathered his words.
Rollins waited for a few seconds before offering, “Do you wanna grab some lunch?”
Carisi looked at her, relieved. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
They sat on a bench, eating hot dogs in silence for awhile before Carisi spoke up.
“There’s something I’ve been trying to tell you for awhile, but I couldn’t figure out how to bring it up.” He paused again. “I’ve been seeing someone lately.”
Rollins raised an eyebrow. “Why would you be afraid to tell me that?”
“Well, his name is Riley. I wasn’t sure how you’d react to the ‘he’ part.” Carisi looked over at her expectantly.
Rollins felt the wind leave her lungs for a moment as she processed what she was hearing. Did her partner just come out to her? She couldn’t say she was shocked, but it had just never occurred to her that someone like Carisi would be into men. She met his eyes, grinning.
“Is that why you got so upset in there? Because that asshole was acting like being gay was a death wish? Because just say the word and I’ll show him what a death wish looks like.”
Carisi tossed his head back, laughing. “No, no. Well, that was part of it. See, Riley is also a transgender man. When he called the Reichard kid… that word... it really stung. Suddenly, it was like being reminded how so many people see people like him. I know how hard that’s been for Riley.” He looked down at his half-eaten lunch. “And I remember when I used to think like that, too.”
“Hey, now.” Rollins scooted closer to him, putting a hand on his upper back. “You’re a different person than you were then. Clearly, people change. You’ve grown up a lot since I first met you.”
Carisi smiled back at her. His phone dinged in his pocket. He pulled it out, looking at the notification.
“Speak of the devil. It’s Riley,” he said, opening the text. He chuckled at the screen. “Oh, hey! I can actually show you this stuff now!”
Rollins furrowed her brow, unsure if this was crossing the boundaries of their friendship or not. Sonny turned his phone screen towards her, showing a video of a tiny sheepdog puppy running excitedly towards the camera, jumping up to pounce and then plopping down with an anticlimactic thump. Amanda giggled.
“Her name is Button. Isn’t that cute?”
“As a button.” Amanda teased. “You seem really happy.”
Carisi smiled again. “I am. I’m really glad you know now.”
The two sat on the bench for a moment, reveling in their bonding moment. Finally, Amanda took a deep breath. “We should get back to the station. I’ll bet Fin’s running out of questions to ask.”
“Oh, please.” Carisi joked. “We’ve only been gone forty-five minutes. I’ll bet he’s just getting started.”
